KVINT Single Estate

The living spirit of Moldova, bottled at exceptional quality. More than a century on the fertile banks of the Dniester.

Make history with DIVIN

Who we are

We have been making history for over a century

On the fertile lands of the Dniester valley, KVINT holds a defining place in Moldova's wine industry — from vine to bottle, at every link of the chain.

Our greatest treasure is DIVIN. A blend of singular spirits, some of them aged for decades. Following the classic traditions of the craft, we use grapes of the finest European and autochthonous varieties. After a double distillation in Charentais stills, the spirits are laid down to age in Limousin oak casks.

Heir to a winemaking terroir with a history spanning millennia, KVINT has won more than 500 awards. KVINT is more than a distillery — it is the art of generations of masters who have been making history for over a century.

What divin is

Divin — the national spirit of Moldova

Divin (from “distilled wine”) is Moldovan cognac, made by the classic French method with obligatory ageing in oak casks. Since the name “cognac” belongs to France and nobody else may label their product that way, the word divin has been Moldova's synonym for cognac since 1993.

Full control over every stage of production is what keeps the drink authentic, faultless in quality and whole in its aroma and taste.

Our terroir

Between Camenca and Doibani

KVINT’s vineyards lie in the terroirs of Camenca, Rașcov and Doibani, sheltered from the winds by the forests of Poiana and Calagur.

The plantations cover 2,000 hectares in all, and the vines grow on soils of several kinds: sandy soils rich in calcium, limestone soils and southern chernozem. The soil shapes the character of the grapes, and that variety — more than 30 of them — lets us make divins and wines whose aroma and taste belong to this place alone.

From the vine to the glass

Mastery in every link

Full command of the whole chain — from growing the vines, through fermentation and distillation, to ageing. Since 1897 we have joined French precision to local and European varieties.

  1. 01

    Harvest

KVINT’s vineyards lie in the terroirs of Camenca, Rașcov and Doibani, sheltered from the winds by the forests of Poiana and Calagur.

  2. 02

    Distillation

A double distillation in Charentais pot stills. The first run gives a base distillate of 29–32%, the second — “la bonne chauffe”, the good heating — a spirit of 62–70%. A full cycle takes close to a day and reduces the volume ninefold.

  3. 03

    Ageing

Three years in an oak cask at the very least; the range runs from 3 to 60 years. Limousin oak is the distillate’s best match, and our cellars hold more than 25,000 casks. Variety, temperature, humidity and daily care build and layer the range of flavour.

  4. 04

    Blending

The final step: distillates from French and local grape varieties create a national character all of its own.

  5. 05

    Divin

Divin — “distilled wine”, Moldovan cognac: a double distillation in Charentais stills and obligatory ageing in oak. The name “cognac” belongs to France, so since 1993 the Moldovan synonym has been divin. The distillery turns out more than 20 million bottles.
